JURY INFORMATION
A jury pool is established annually. Throughout the year, as needed, summonses are issued for individuals to appear at Dayton Municipal Court for jury duty. Questionnaires are mailed to prospective jurors, to be completed by them and returned to the Court for certification. Municipal Court jury trials are short in duration, usually one to two days in length.
Jurors are paid $10.00 for reporting for jury service. Individuals selected to serve on a jury will receive $15.00 per day for their services.
The Court does not pay for juror’s parking. It is recommended that jurors park in one of the surrounding public parking lots or garages. Please avoid parking at street meters as you will not be permitted to leave court to “feed” your meter. Please see the directions page for more parking information.
A person seeking to be excused from service as a juror should submit in writing their reason for wanting to be excused. This request should be mailed back to the Court along with the questionnaire. A person seeking a medical excuse must present to the Court a note from their doctor stating the medical reasons why the person would be unable to serve. The doctor’s note can be faxed directly to the Court at 937-333-4468. The Jury Commissioner will contact those potential jurors who are seeking to be excused five days prior to the summons date.
If you have additional questions not answered by this website or the summons you received in the mail, you may call 937-333-4448 between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
